6 Month Savings Program
Western Carolina’s rates are competitive with both other communities in the Upstate and major Southeastern metropolitan areas. Our rate methodology includes a base charge and a volume charge. The majority of our accounts are residential, and they benefit from our automatic Six Month Savings Program.
Our Six Month Savings Program automatically adjusts your wastewater treatment charge for outside water use during warm weather. The program establishes a maximum number of gallons for which you will be charged during your savings period. The maximum is the average number of gallons used during the two most recent quarters prior to your Six Month Savings Period.

How can I determine my Six Month Savings Period?
- Locate the cycle number on your bill (upper right corner). The cycle number is located on the Greenville Water System bill.
- Locate the same cycle number on the table above to determine the months
during which the Six Month Savings Program will automatically adjust your
wastewater treatment bill.
How will I be billed after my Six Month Savings Period?
- Water used after the end of your Six Month Savings Period will be billed at the full rate with no adjustment for outside water use.
How can I minimize my wastewater treatment charge?
- Water for irrigation, swimming pools, or other purposes which do not result in water entering the sewer system, should be used during your Six Month Savings Period to have the lowest possible wastewater treatment charge.
- Western Carolina encourages residential customers who use large amounts of water for irrigation, swimming pools, or other purposes which do not result in water entering the sewer system, to consider installing a second water meter. Water through this meter would not incur a wastewater treatment charge.
